Ever have a moment where its painful how much a bad game has like ONE GOOD IDEA and its totally wasted by the rest of it and like.. NOW NOBODY ELSE WILL EVEN DO THAT ONE GOOD IDEA BETTER COS NOBODY PLAYED THIS DAMN GAME
Not that its easy to say Okage is 'a bad game' though...? like, its objectively a bad GAME. But its an AMAZING story and characters and art style and just its all destroyed by stupid glitches and bad menu design decisions and VOLUME ERRORS ON THE PS4 PORT THAT GAVE ME A HORRIBLE HEADACHE and just MAN BUT I LOVE THIS GAME SO MUCH BUT I CAN ONLY WATCH LETS PLAYS OF IT BECAUSE IT PHYSICALLY PAINS MY EARS

anyway THE ONE REALLY GOOD THING ABOUT THE GAMEPLAY IN A GAME WHERE THE GAMEPLAY IS THE WORST PART

for no reason except he is my fave and it sucks that he gets the narrative shaft and is only recruitable as a party member in THE VERY FINAL PART OF THE GAME and misses all the earlier bonding moments

So yeah here you can see how damn cluttered the menus are and how wild the camera is and how overcranked certain characters's animations are for no reason. (Tho admittedly it makes Kisling even funnier!)

But also you might have seen how THE ANIMATIONS GO IN REAL TIME

Like... what?? How did they think of that?? Its such a minor change yet it looks so cool and stylish??
Battles aren't real time but they are but they aren't. There's no form of pausing after you make your attack before the ATB starts filling up again. And it doesn't really affect anything or have any real purpose but it just looks pretty cool to see multiple characters still doing thier attacks from earlier, and the battle scene freezing all matrix style mid-animation when you get your next turn!

Buuuuut then it also REALLY DOESNT WORK TO ITS FULLEST EXTENT cos we already have a battle system thats a mess of confusing menus and barely any tutorials and a manual that contains false badly translated info :P And a camera perspective that's too zoomed in :P
So it just makes it even harder to follow what's going on.. gahhh...
But also like if you remade the battle system into something better you'd lose the Cool Camera Thing and seriously I love it aaaaaaaa
if I could somehow make that happen in rpgmaker I'd love to do a fangame :P
but seriously how would you even explain that if you're looking for a programmer and stuff? like.. 'continuous battle animation style' or.. something?? 'LOOK FOR THE OCCASIONAL MATRIX THING'?
also how could i rewrite the plot to let you get Epros earlier when his status as a last second recruit is pretty justified in the plot but also HES SUCH A COOL AND CUTE CIRCUS GHOST GUY
also he needs a revamp cos seriously wtf he uses magic in his fight with you, he's literally immune to physical attacks, his status screen says MYSTERIOUS WIZARD yet he has a magic stat of zero
also did you know him and kisling didn't get action figures
also did you know THIS GAME HAD ACTION FIGURES
aaaaaa the crime of japan monopoly merchadise, why u no import any the thing
