Witch of Tegid Lake

Funny story, I was JUST about to get to sleep when suddenly this character design popped into my head. I had to draw it or else I'd never remember it in the morning...

Since it was a random moment of inspiration I don't really know anything about this character except its an anthro somethingy. I'm not even sure what it is. My heart says "jackal" but it could also be a lynx. I'm pretty sure it isn't a rabbit.
The colourscheme is strange yet somehow I like it. It was like that in my mini-dream- the big bright turquoisey green hair against the bland body. It really stood out and made me SUDDENLY WAY TOO AWAKE WITH ALL THE AWESOMENESS
I like the face, it's so uber simple and cartoony that it looks childish even compared to my normal style. i think it's a good representation of that sort of person who just looks completely offputtingly strange in some weird way that you can't put your finger on. The loopy cat lady who's somehow shaped her own eyes and forehead to perfectly fit her personality o.O

I've decided that I think I'll give this design to Cerridwen! She's a character from welsh myth that honestly doesn't get much of an appearance except as the antagonist in folk hero Taliesin's origin story and also technically his mother. (It;s an ODD story) I really like that strange tale so I was thinking of making characters based on it!
haha, at least she gets more of a mention than her husband though! He just gets one line and it's not very flattering- "cerridwen was married to Tegid The Bald". Then he never actually appears in the entire story. It's only vague conjecture that links him and the story to the real life place named Tegid Lake XD

Anyway Cerridwen is a powerful and reclusive witch who's a little creepy and doesn't exactly run on the same morality system as you weird mortals! She's not necessarily evil though, she just might do evil things now and then with no actual bad intentions. Basically she's feared with good reason but from her perspective everyone's just ignoring her and freaking out whenever she makes tiny mistakes.
She's got no real compunctions against using forbidden white magics to CREATE LIFE FROM CLAY ITSELF, and once decided to bake up a son in the oven. But he turned out kinda melty so she went on an Epic Quest to gather the ingredients for a potion of knowledge, so that her baby could have something respectable about him that would make up for all the grossness. (Y'know, rather than sticking up for him and reassuring him that being unattractive isn't the end of the world. Or heck, listening to him and seeing what talents he already has, instead of deciding he's a stupid fat bitch who needs to become a doctor or else his life is OVER.)
The strange series of events that followed led to the origin of Taliesin... which shall be covered elsewhere...
Anyway, despite all that jerkyness, she does really love her son Morfran and wants the best for him. She's just one of those smothering mums who makes her own decision on what's "best", shielding the kid from the world and wrapping him up in cotton wool. And she honestly doesn't even know him very well... he doesn't feel comfortable to even talk to his mother because she'll inevitably interrupt his every sentence and make up her own idea of what he wants to say, what he needs, even what his likes and dislikes are. Poor child's locked up in a gilded cage being pampered but emotionally deprived.
Will this awkward mother-son relationship ever get fixed? Will Cerridwen blow up the world yet again? Find out next week on {Generically Named Sitcom no. 5003}!!!
