And the moral of the story is: don't dodge housework or your illicit interspecies affair will be revealed with amazing comic timing.
Thor, you got some 'splaining to dooo!

Okay, needless to say, this soap opera scene never happened in the actual mythos. The eddas tended to be all about Important Things happening and not at all about characterization or day in the life moments, which is why authors are fundementally crippled when they wanna do an adaptation. Not that they aren't great stories, but people nowadays like to have characters treated as people not objects that kill stuff in interesting ways.
The WHOLE of this volume is wrapped up in the 'thor is an adulterer, sif is mad, magni must be accepted as his son' plot that has no basis in original canon. It's also kind of unlikely as back in those times there was hardly even a concept of adultery and everyone could sleep around even if they were married. Vikings raped and pillaged after all. A lot of heroes even had mistresses that had their own room in the house for when they popped over. Also -in random trivia- homosexuality was both despised and revered, and certainly practised an awful lot amoungst warriors. If you were the one on top you were showing how much of a manly man you were and asserting your leadership, while the other guy was the gay guy XD So yeah, sexuality in the olden days was a different kettle of fish and it's sort of quaint to see a modern adultery plot thrown in here XD
Not that it isn't entertaining XD

Also, in the mythos Magni is THREE days old when he makes his debut. But seeing as the event where he actually showed up happens later in this chapter we can assume the story lasts those other two days.
And it was never really clarified (at least not in the version I read) whether he was born and suddenly aged up to an adult or was actually a baby going around talking and fighting. I prefer the second one cos it makes him more badass! (and I doodled it here: [link] ) Thor's younger brother Vali already had a 'born as an adult' plot anyway. (and also a 'kill and replace Hod' plot but that's unrelated XD)
In summary this plot has hardly anything to do with the actual story which was more like "Hi I'm your son Magni I wuv you dad." "Cool! You're a total badass! Time for hugs!" "Can I live with you?" "Sure, fine." END. :XD:

And translation-wise the only big edit was at the end. (Yes, snugglehen and Jornsexy were there in the original text XD) In that last panel in the Danish version it goes "When were you born?" "Yesterday." but we don't generally phrase the question that way in English.
Also randomly google translate turned "He looks nothing like me" into "He is totally like not". Valley girl Thor!
Even more randomly I just got a nosebleed right now which makes me ponder more about cultural differences. Why do the japanese think nosebleeds are a sign of dirty thoughts when to the rest of the world they're just 'shit this came from absolutely nowhere, let me stick a tissue up my nostril'. Wait, tissue?! THE COMIC PREDICTED THIS :XD:

valhalla belongs to peter masden, I am only translating it for the benefit of us english speaking folks~ Here's hoping an official translation comes out eventually!
