Tjalfe, you may have won the argument but you're about to lose the war...


A fair bit about for this! First off a little tidbit for those of you who haven't read the previous volumes- this is sort of referencing them. Last time there was a bit of a sexism plot going on, so the start of this page is a callback showing how Sif's learned to work her husband's predjudice to get him to actually help around the house. "My womanly weakness prevents me from doing this chore, oh who will save me?" Shame he's found a way to weasel out by the end of the page XD
And Tjalfe didn't learn anything evidentely. He tends to forget the morals of his own stories in five seconds flat just so he can be a jerk again next time and get shown up once again XD
I dislike Tjalfe His sis says what the audience thinks so it's annoying she hasn't gotten to be the hero since volume one. It's frustrating to have someone who's a horrible whiny kid and yet gets to be a main character and drive plots because of it...
</off-topic blabber>

Mythological-tidbit time: Utgard is a place in the lands of the Jotunn, home to Utgard-Loki who is a dickface. (pardon my french- I mean danish- I mean.. lets just continue on.) Utgard-Loki was made into sort of a recurring villain in this series and inserted into other stories. So Valhalla subs 'Utgard' for wherever the stories were set and uses it in favor of anywhere else in niflheim/jotunheim/wherever a Jotunn-fighting story takes place. In ye olde actual myths it wasn't stated whether Thor particularly favored evil giant genocide just in Utgard XD

And on the translation side of things there's not much to say except I took a bunch of liberties because the literal translation for this page ended up particularly stilted. Sif's last line was rewritten as something similar since originally it was something like 'Aw, but this is just as comfortable/nice! (as going troll hunting)' which sounds awkward in english and is too big to fit in that bubble. I thought of having it as 'But isn't this just as fun?' but I generally don't like changing punctuation.
Also for some reason the only translation I could find for one word was 'tissue' when everything makes it obvious it's meant to be 'loom'. Maybe tissue has the same word as tapestry..?

valhalla belongs to peter masden, I am only translating it for the benefit of us english speaking folks~ Here's hoping an official translation comes out eventually!
