Disclaimer: this isn't a stab against anyone in particular aside from bad artists in general. Specifically its loads of stuff that I personally used to do when i was first starting out
But everyone goes through a phase like this so don't be discouraged!
And also don't be discouraged from doing anything on this pic, just try and think before you do it, and put all your effort into doing it well! Nothing here is inherantly bad, its just all done in the wrong way.
Like, for example, the "god of death won't reap your soul because he loves you so much" thing is actually part of Jayus's real plot! (With his proper male love interest) The part that's done badly in this example: not giving enough reason why it happens, and not setting up the ship so it makes sense. Like, deciding to break the rules just from the sight of a sexy person? Nope, that makes the character sound like a horny idiot. Deciding to break the rules for someone he's already been dating for three years and has known since he was a kid? Makes a lot more sense!
Also for example you could think up an interesting new design for your cat anthro instead of just copying the archetypical "only has ears and a tail" template, and if you put the lens flare in the right place then it'll look better, so on and so forth ^_^

...but ludicrous overuse of the grass picture brush? No, that's unnacceptable in all situations XD
